Young Artists Recital to showcase local musicians

The Brantford Music Club is set to showcase some of the area’s top young musicians.
The 2024 Young Artists Recital takes place on Friday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sanderson Centre.
The first half of the program will feature the 45-piece Paris District High School Symphonic Band performing works by Stanbridge, Buckley, and Erickson under the direction of Roger Winter.
Two young female pianists will perform contemporary selections and classical favourites by Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff.
Emily Alway recently graduated from St. John’s College and is currently working towards her Grade 10 RCM piano.
Alway will attend McMaster University in September for an arts degree before entering teacher’s college.
She began playing piano at the age of four with the late Virginia Blaha and has also studied under Amy Hall and Deborah Welbanks.
Natalie Hall is currently in Grade 10 at North Park Collegiate.
She began piano lessons at age 5 with her mother, piano teacher Amy Hall. She has also studied under Linda McCann, Laura DeVries, and Tatiana Voitovich-Camilleri.
Hall recently completed her Grade 9 piano exam, and also plays baritone saxophone in her high school band.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for students, and children in Grade 8 or under are free, and are available at the Sanderson Centre Box office by calling 519-758-8090.
